Gordon Bryan graduated from UC Berkeley, where he studied painting under Elmer Bischoff. After an apprenticeship with L'Esperance Tile in New York, he studied the traditional craft of tilemaking at Moravian Pottery in Doylestown , Pennsylvania, and in Spain and Mexico.

   Gordon, and his wife Pamela Bridges, founded Blue Slide Art Tile in 1982. From his original vision, Blue Slide has grown into an artisan tile studio, represented by 20 showrooms nationally. The tiles continue to reflect Gordon's personal interest in painting, carving, architecture and nature. The Blue Slide Art Tile studio is now on the edge of town in Point Reyes, California, surrounded by coastal mountains, morning fog and the Pacific Ocean.
